Eliminationof SinglePointsof Failure
DolphinEnergy’sexportpipeline (the largest
underwatergaspipeline in theworld) is recognized
asonepotential singlepointof failure, and thus
representsa significant risk to thecontinuous
supplyofgas tocustomers. TheEmergency
PipelineRepairSystem (EPRS), planned tobe
inplaceby2017,willenableDolphinEnergy to
instantly react toanyaccidental damage to
theexportpipelineor toeitherof the sealines
transporting rawgas fromDolphinEnergy
productionplatforms to itsGasProcessingPlant
atRasLaffan. In2015,weobtainedapproval to
proceedwith thedetaileddesign,manufacturing,
testinganddeliveryof theEPRSequipment, as
well as for awarding thedesignconsultancy for the
EPRSMarineBase inTaweelah. Thenewbase is
expected toachieveanEstidama2-Pearl Rating.
In2015,wealsoenhanced the reliabilityof our
existingplant fire-fighting systematRas Laffan,
and facilitated themaintenanceof itsfire-fighting
water storage tankby connecting the company’s
fire-fightingwater storage tank toRas Laffan
Industrial City’sfire-fightingwater ringmain
througha24 inchGlassReinforcedEpoxy (GRE)
pipelinewithanapproximate lengthof two
kilometers. Thispipeline serves asbackup to
our fire-fightingwater sourceandhas reduced
the riskof fires through the regularmaintenance
of ourwater storagewithout theneed to shut
down theplant.
Annual ShutdownProgram
Inearly2015,wemarked the completionof one
of themost complicatedand challengingannual
shutdownprograms ever undertaken since
operationsbegan in2007.
Wewereable toachieve significant performance
improvement of Train-1 andTrain-2gasdriers
bymodifying internals in their inlet separators.
Themolecular sievewas replaced inTrain-1 and
Train-2, one trainat a time. Thenew internals
reduce frequencyofmaintenance requirements
and improveperformanceongas and liquid
separation. Inaddition,we completedextensive
repairs andmodifications to the sulfur condensing
systemof oneof our sulfur recoveryunits.
Inaddition,we completed the shutdownof the
DOL-2productionplatform four days aheadof
schedule,meetingall objectives and costswith
zeroLTI.
In total, over 1.3million contractors and
sub-contractors’manhourswere consumed
amounting toover 2,800personnel during
peakdays.
2015Annual ShutdownModificationsbyNumbers:
• 400+equipment inspected/repaired
• 400MethodStatements completed
• 350TaskRiskAnalyses (TRA) completed
• 500+valvesoverhauled
• 5Down-GradedSituations (DGS) rectified
