Be’atiWatani
In2011, DolphinEnergy launchedBe’atiWatani,
anonlineenvironmental educationprogram
for schools in theKuwait. Theprogram is run in
partnershipwith theWorldWildlifeFund (EWS-
WWF)with theaim toeducate teachers, students
and their parentsonkeyenvironmental topics and
inspire them toprotect thenatural environment.
Theprogramalso includes avolunteering
component, throughwhichDolphinEnergy staff
help support the initiativebyvolunteering tovisit
schools and conduct classes.
After operating theprogram in theKuwait for four
years, DolphinEnergy launchedBe’atiWatani
program inQatar in2015. Theprogramwas
customized forQatar, focusingonQatarwildlife,
water,waste, and climate change. Twoworkshops
wereheldat theFriendsof theEnvironment
Center to introduce theprogram content, tools
and student registrationprocess to teachers
from 13 schools.
In total, 3,526 studentsparticipated in theprogram.
Apre–programonline student surveywas
conducted tomeasure the level of environmental
knowledge studentspossessedbefore starting
theprogram. Upon completionof theprogram,
students tookaquiz to test the level of learning
gained. Theoutcomeof this exercise showed that
Be’atiWataniwas a successful anduseful tool to
support teachers in class and to raise students’
awarenessonenvironmental topics.
Byencouraging teachers, students and their
families to learnabout theenvironment and
importanceof regional biodiversity,wehelped
themhonor andprotect local natural historyand
