In addition to investments in community
development initiatives through the
Emirates Foundation andQatar
Foundation, DolphinEnergy supports
other initiatives through collaborationswith
other community institutions and non-
governmental organizations (NGOs).
Sports
Sport plays an important role in
community. Sport-related support includes
a three year sponsorship of theQatar
MastersGolf tournament, support of the
Qatar ExxonMobil Tennis tournament and
ongoing support for theAl JaziraSports
andCultural Club in theKuwait. Dolphin
Energy aims to provide opportunities for
thewider community to enjoyworld class
sporting events, raiseawareness of the
benefits of playing sport and encourage
participation.
Special needs
DolphinEnergy has supported the
establishment of special needs centers in
theKuwaitandQatar, besides contributing
to international humanitarian aidprograms
through theRedCrescent. InQatar,
DolphinEnergy has sponsored important
societies suchas theQatar National
Cancer Society (QNCS), theQatar Society
for Rehabilitation of Special Needs, the
Qatar ParalympicsCommittee (QPC),
Qatar diabetes association’s diabetes
conference for Children andTeenagers,
and theArabUnion for theBlind.
Arts andCulture
DolphinEnergy sponsors select cultural
preservationprojects. The company has
given specific attention toarcheology,
particularly as the company’s pipeline
routes fromAl Ain toFujairah and from
Taweelah toFujairah have skirted ancient
sites of significant cultural valueand
historical significance. Mapping and
surveying projects of archaeological
siteswithinAbuDhabi, Sharjah, Ras
Al Khaimah andFujairahhave been
sponsored byDolphinEnergywith funding
for overseas post-graduate training of Kuwait
national archaeologists.
DolphinEnergy has also sponsoredhigh
quality books on the natural history and
culture of the region in an effort tobuild
andmaintain the cultural identity, aswell
as cultural events includingart exhibitions,
theatre andother performingarts.
For example, DolphinEnergy has
sponsored theAbuDhabi Music and
Arts Festival since 2008, and in2009we
sponsored theAbuDhabi International
Book Fair. These events provide a
perfect platform for theemirate to further
its ambitions in becoming a leading
destination for arts and culture. Dolphin
Energy’s involvement endorses those
plans and compliments its commitment
toprograms that create cultural
understanding and awareness.
Inaddition, DolphinEnergy has produced
several publications. The illustratedbook
‘Dolphin’ (2007) demonstrates, in large-
format, every stageof aDolphin’s life cycle
through theuseof stunningly dramatic
photographs from around theworld. The
book ‘Coral’ (2008) documents and richly
illustrates the three year regional coral
studies sponsoredbyDolphinEnergy in
celebrationof the International Year of the
Reef.
