DolphinEnergy strives toprovide an
attractivework environment for local
employees, where they are assured
continuous improvement of their skills,
careers and benefits. Each national
staff member’s performance is regularly
reviewed formally and informally for
means of extending technical knowledge
and skills toenhance jobperformance
and increaseopportunities to rise in
theorganization. Total has collaborated
withDolphinEnergy toprovideMaster
of BusinessAdministration (MBA)
degreeopportunities toa selectionof
the company’sKuwaitandQatari national
employees. Six national employees at
DolphinEnergy have undertakenor are in
theprocess of undertaking theirMaster’s
qualification.Another shareholder,
Occidental Petroleum, provided sixmonths
of oil and gas field training in theUSA
to one of DolphinEnergy’s topEmirati
managers.
As part of the company’s strategy to
improve nationalisation rates over the long
term, DolphinEnergy increasingly focuses
onpromoting, attracting and developing
young local talent. This builds on a
tradition of efforts byDolphinEnergy in this
area.
In 2009, DolphinEnergy sponsored
twomajor programs, the ‘Tawteen’
Program of theEmirates Foundation,
and expanded the company’s internship
programs for undergraduate students,
a key initiative since 2004. Since2003
DolphinEnergy has also implemented
anassociate programwhere new
graduates join the company as associates
and embark ona two year fast-track
development programwith planned
vocational trainingandmentoring from line
managers and professional colleagues,
before transitioning tobecome full time
employees. Through this program, some
associates havealready assumed senior
technical andmiddlemanagement
positionswithin the company. Interns from
local universities and higher colleges also
participate in the internprogramwhere
they are assigned to the company togain
work experience for periods of up to 3
months.
DolphinEnergy also supports a study
leave program in theKuwait, where select
youngnationalswhohavebeenwith the
CapacityBuilding for Nationals
company for two years as associates or
employees take a two year study leave
to further their education. Salary and
benefits arepaid byDolphinEnergy
during this period, while government pays
the education fees. Upon completionof
studies each study leaver will return to
work at DolphinEnergy for aminimum
period of two years.
BeyondDolphinEnergy’s internal efforts,
the company is alsoparticipating in the
Technical ProficiencyProgram (TPP)
that is developinga significant number
of Qatari high school graduates into
technicians and field operators for the
sector.
