300 teachers. The latest onlineversion
of theenvironmental educationprogram
launched in2011aims toeducate
teachers, studentsand their familiesabout
wildlifeandenvironmental issues in the
Kuwait, training themonhow toprotect it.
Inorder to expandparticipation in the
program for the 2013-2014 academic
year, 19 teacher orientationworkshops
were conducted across theEmirates
inSeptember andOctober to introduce
theprogram andprovide trainingon its
implementation.More than 400 teachers
representing344 schools attended,
half of whomwere new to theprogram.
Asa result, over 300schoolswereenrolled
in theprogramby the endof 2013.
In addition to running theprogram in
partnershipwith theEmiratesWildlife
Society (EWS) and theWorldWildlife
Fund (WWF), DolphinEnergy also sends
staff volunteers to visit schools and
conduct classes. During 2013Dolphin
Energy, inpartnershipwithEWS/WWF,
also introduced theBe’atiWatani
program to theSupremeEducation
Council inQatar. As a result, the three
haveworked together to revise the
program for introductionanduse inQatar
public schools. Program launchand initial
implementation is expected in 2014.
TheBe’atiWatani website is anopen
resource, and has receivedover 60,000
unique visitors andover 700,000page
views. Visitors are engagingwith the site,
spending an average of 11minutes
browsing it.
More than 50%of visitors have returned
to the site, indicating that the interest
for theprogram remains high among
students, teachersandparents. Asof 31st
December, 2013, nearly 27,000 students
from approximately 600 schools have
attempted the onlinequiz.While the
number of approved schools alongwith
their coordinators isaround300, thehigher
number indicates that students from
the remaining schools haveparticipated
in theprogramof their own volition.
