Other Emissions
Many of theabove-mentioned emissions
sources also generate other emissions
such as nitrogen oxides and sulphur
oxides. Theproduction process is
optimized in amanner throughwhich
sulphur content in the raw gas supply is
separatedand stored for future sale, thus
avoiding themajority of potential Sulphur
Oxides (SOx) emissions.
Other above-mentioned initiatives such as
reduced truck usage and car-pooling are
also contributing toa reduction in these
types of emissions.

Transport-relatedGHG emissions
DolphinEnergy utilizes several types of
transport in its business. These include
trucks for transferring granulated sulphur
from theplant to theRLCport, vehicles for
transferring staff to/from theworkplaceand
other business travel, and airline travel.
Qatar vehicle fleet consists of 101 vehicles,
andTheKuwait fleet consists of 68 vehicles
brokendown as per the adjacent table.
InQatar, 21 vehicles out of the56diesel
vehicles are leasedand the fuel provided
directly by the contractor; therefore, the
diesel consumptionof the leased vehicles
is not included in the energy andGHG
emission calculations. For Kuwait, all 68
vehicles are petrol vehicles and leased;
but their diesel consumptionandGHG
emissions is trackedas the company
provides the fuel for these leased vehicles.
All of these forms of transport contribute
togreenhousegas emissions. Dolphin
Energy has taken several actions in 2009
with regard to these emissions:

•
Started tender process for construction
of a liquid sulphur pipeline to transfer
sulphur from the plant toRLCport
instead of relyingon trucking. The
company aims to commission this
pipeline in2011;
•
Increased car poolingof company
vehicles for transportingemployees
from their home towork and some
business-related travel;
•
Provided company buses for commuting
fromDoha orAbuDhabi to facilities at
Ras Laffan or Taweelah respectively;
•
Increased videoconferencing as a
means of reducing travel, saving time
and improving productivity.
As a result of theseefforts, a 45%
reductionwas achieved indiesel
consumption in 2009 versus 2008
consumption.
