MinimizingEnvironmental Impacts
ManagementApproach
DolphinEnergy is committed to running
its operations inan environmentally
consciousmanner that minimizes the
impacts on thenatural environment.
As part of theQHSEManagement
System, environmental performance
standards are established covering all
the significant environmental impacts
of the company’s operations, including
emissionsmanagement, energy
reduction, biodiversity protection, waste
management, product and service
enhancement, byproduct optimization,
watermanagement and resource
consumption. The standards are
supplemented by project and operations
specific procedures andmanagement
plans.
Significant environmental impacts are
determined through a comprehensive
program of environmental and social
impact assessments (ESIAs) and the
continuous updateof theEnvironmental
Aspect and Impact Registerswith ongoing
monitoring and evaluation. This starts from
the earliest stages of planningby carrying
out detailedESIAs, tobusiness strategy
decisions and all phases of operations.
The assessment process includes
a detailed reviewof regulations for
compliance purposes. Governmental
regulations of each country inwhich
DolphinEnergy operates are strictly
followed. The corporateQHSE&S division
maintains a centralized legislation and
regulationdatabase. The database relates
to legal and regulatory obligations for
business activities in theKuwait andQatar,
aswell as any consent, permits or no
objection certificates issued by local or
federal agencies. It is supplementedby
international protocols, guidelines and
regulations ratified by theKuwait, Qatar or
energy industry associations (e.g. OGP)
representing industry best practiceor
lender obligations (e.g. Equator Principles
or IFCperformance standards). The
database is updated as new regulations
come intoeffect, anda full review is
undertakenevery two years to ensure all
newor amended laws, permits or consents
have been included.
Beyonddirect regulatory responsibilities,
DolphinEnergy plays a constructive
part in theproceedings of the region’s
leading environmental and technical
