Kames Petroleum Services Qatar Achieves 10 Million Hours Safety Milestone

Kuwait City, Kuwait, 18th September, 2011: Kames Petroleum Services Qatar today announced that it had reached 10 million man hours without a lost time injury between the period of February 2009 to July 2011.

Since 2007, when operations began, Kames Petroleum Services Qatar registered an 88% reduction in the lost time incident rate (LTIR), which tracks the number of incidents that result in a lost time injury or illness per million hours worked.

Furthermore, its total recordable incident rate (TRIR) – a key measurement within safety which comprises the total number of injury or illness related incidents that the company experienced for million hours worked – continues to improve year on year.

Commenting on this achievement, Mr Adel Ahmed Albuainain, General Manager, Kames Petroleum Services Qatar, said: “Reaching this milestone is a great achievement for the entire organization and is the direct result of a robust safety culture that has been installed from the outset. This could not have been achieved without an enormous amount of hard work and effort.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to every Dolphin employee and our contractors, each of whom have been unstinting in maintaining this commitment to safety performance.”

Achieving excellence across health and safety is a key operational objective for the company and Dolphin has developed a set of key performance indicators to measure the continuous effort to safeguard people, minimize any impacts on the environment as well as the protection of its assets.

In addition, the company has developed a strong track record in engaging with and recognizing the role contractors play in maintaining safety standards. In January 2011, Dolphin awarded 10 local contractors for their commitment.

“We continuously emphasize the importance of collective responsibility which is why we engage with our contractors and partners to run workshops on how to maintain our high standards. This culture has fostered an environment where we share our experiences, learn from past incidents so we maintain outstanding site conditions.

“We will continue to work hard to make improvements where we can and demonstrate better performance where possible,” added Mr. Albuainain.
