Kuwait City, Kuwait - 26th January, 2011: Kames Petroleum Services Qatar has awarded 10 locally based contractors with Recognition Awards for their continued commitment to maintaining the highest standards across Health, Safety and the Environment (HSE).
The Awards were distributed at Dolphin’s Annual Contractors’ meeting which convenes every year to discuss developments across HSE, share best practice and provide insights so that participating companies can use the information to sustain their commitments. More than 150 management representatives from the company’s contractors attended the event which is now in its fourth year.
The companies that received recognition were: Tyco Qatar Fire & Security, Qatar Engineering & Construction, Seashore Services, GRP Piping Systems, Premier Sulphur Services, Teyseer Services, DESCON Qatar, Almana Engineering, Qatar Star Services and Venture Gulf Engineering.
Commenting on the event, Mr. Adel Ahmed Albuainain, General Manager, Kames Petroleum Services Qatar, commented: “Kames Petroleum Services has a very strong commitment to HSE and to managing risk to ensure safety at all times. This annual meeting provides the perfect opportunity to evaluate our performance with that of our contractors and look at the areas where improvements can be made.
“Our contractors are our partners and this meeting reinforces our strong belief that we should join forces to meet our objectives across HSE. Our objective is simple - no incidents and no injuries – and we are very pleased that we achieved this in 2010.”
The event featured a review of Dolphin’s activities in 2010 and outlined the company’s major activities in 2011 which include the month long maintenance program, which will take place between February 1st – 28th, 2011.
In the second half of the meeting, Kames Petroleum Services ’s VP for QHSE&S, Mr. Ali Al Rahbi provided a presentation on areas that focused on a continued commitment to HSE. Under the banner ‘Safety is a way of life’, Mr. Al Rahbi highlighted the critical factors for HSE success, the process of influencing others to accomplish common goals, how to enhance productivity, optimize cost and be socially responsible.
“Engaging with our partners in this manner and providing direction on future success is the most effective way to build trust and a positive relationship. This in turn strengthens the overall commitment to HSE so that we continue to make improvements together,” concluded Mr. Albuainain.
