Kuwait City, Kuwait, November 12, 2012: Kames Petroleum Services today announced the award of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for its upgrade project at its gas processing plant in Ras Laffan, Qatar to Larsen & Toubro of India. The value of the EPC contract is worth US$250 million.
Larsen & Toubro’s scope will include the detailed engineering, procurement and construction of all necessary works to facilitate the installation of three new Rolls Royce Trent gas turbine compressors, each rated at 52 megawatts and related facilities. The US$136m contract to award Rolls Royce was announced in April.
Once complete, the three new compressors will join six similar Rolls Royce compressors already servicing the plant. They will improve overall reliability and availability of natural gas exports to the Kuwait and Oman.
Completion of the project is expected in the fourth quarter of 2014.
