Onbehalf of theBoardofDirectors, I am
pleased topresentDolphinEnergy’s2015
SustainabilityReport.
Theyear 2015hasproven tobea landmark
year for sustainabledevelopment on
aglobal level. At theUnitedNations
SustainableDevelopment Summit on25
September 2015,world leaders adopted the
2030Agenda for SustainableDevelopment,
which includes a set of 17Sustainable
DevelopmentGoals (SDGs) toendpoverty,
fight inequalityand injustice, and tackle
climatechange. Less than threemonths
later, 195nations reachedanhistoric
agreement inParis tocombat climate
changeandunleashactions and investment
towards a lowcarbon, sustainable future.
Theseagreementsaregroundbreaking in
anumberofways, not leastbecause they
highlighthow theprivate sector ismobilizing
toaddress thekey sustainabledevelopment
challengesofour time. In thewordsof the
2030Agenda forSustainableDevelopment,
“Privatebusinessactivity, investment and
innovationaremajordriversofproductivity,
inclusiveeconomicgrowthand jobcreation…
Wecall onall businesses toapply their
creativityand innovation to solving
sustainabledevelopment challenges.”
DolphinEnergyhas long recognized it has
a responsibility tocontribute tonational
and international sustainabledevelopment
goals through itsoperational strategy– the
company isproud tohavebeenpart of
thefirstwaveof companies in the region
to implement sustainabilitymanagement
and reporting.Witheachpassingyear,
wecontinue tohoneour decision-making
processes toaddress theneedsof all our
stakeholders and take theopportunity to
delivergreatervalue forourbusinessand
our communities.
At a regional level, governments inQatar,
theKuwait andOman are continuing todrive
implementationof theambitiousnational
plans laidout for sustainabledevelopment,
despitechallengespresentedby thedecline
inoil prices. Thedrive toward theexpansion
of new strategic sectorswhere these
countries canbuilda long-termcompetitive
advantage isaccelerating. Thisgrowthmust
be fueledbya sustainable rangeof energy
resources, andDolphinEnergy is akey
player inmeeting thisneed. Byproviding
2billion standardcubic feet of gasper
day–a reliable, secure, and lower-carbon
formof energy -DolphinEnergydirectly
contributes to supporting thedevelopment
of new long-term industries, creating
sustainablewealth, economicgrowth, and
employment opportunities for thecitizens
of the region, far into the future.
The lowoil pricehaspresentedanumber
of challenges for companiesoperating in
theenergy sector in2015, includingDolphin
Energy.We recognize that integrating
sustainabilityprinciples intoour corporate
strategy is fundamental toour continued
success in thesedifficult times. Asyouwill
see from this report,weare focusedon
identifyingways toachieve the same results
whileoptimizingcosts, by settingpriorities
andeliminatingnon-essentialwork, and
continuing todeliver onour visionof being
