Water Consumption
Desalinatedwater for operations is provided throughKahramaa, Qatar’s
water and electricity provider andwherepossible thewater is retained
in theproductionprocess. Non-processwastewater is recycled through
the onsitewastewater treatment facilities. Separate from theprocess
water, non-contact coolingwater is provided through the common
coolingwater systemof RLC. All coolingwater is returned to the
common coolingwater channel and there is no consumptionwithin
theplant. In theKuwait, water is providedby theAbuDhabiWater and
ElectricityAuthority (ADWEA) fromdesalination. Domesticwater is
recycled throughonsite sewage treatment facilities at both locations and
used for watering landscaped areas.
Water consumption in theKuwait increased from2009 to2010due to
hydrostatic testingperformed to commission new equipment. Dolphin
Qatar operations are currently implementingmodifications on the
wastewater treatment unit with the aim to enhance thequality and
the filtrationof the re-injectedprocesswater. Thesemodifications are
expected tobe commissionedby 2012, and are expected to improve
thequality of the re-injectedwater significantly, inparticular its total
suspended solids (TSS) andoil inwater (OIW) characteristics.
The conscientiousminimizationof resource usage is another priority for
DolphinEnergy, which contributes toboth environmental and economic
gains. This encompassesmaterial consumption, water consumption and
waste reduction andmanagement.
Material Consumption
Themainproductionprocess uses raw, wet gas extracted fromundersea
gas fields toproduce natural gas andother valuablebyproducts.
